$98,753-$116,528 depending on comparable experience; Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after start of school year, spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept-Aug))

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate for the position (Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, or other equivalent technical credentials (i.e., CCNA/CCNP/Microsoft Admin Certifications)) or a combination of applicable experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of degree

 

Minimum three (3) years proven experience in all areas of server management and administration including system configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, designing, implementation, and user support; experience installing and supporting Microsoft server technologies; experience supporting network equipment

 

Valid Washington State Drivers License; WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance

General Information:

Cheney Public Schools serves approximately 5,300 students and encompasses the towns of Cheney and Airway Heights, an expansive rural area, and a developing industrial and residential area on the West Plains. The District covers 380 square miles.

 

The district currently has five elementary schools: Betz, Salnave, Snowdon, Sunset, and Windsor; two middle schools: Cheney Middle School and Westwood Middle School; one comprehensive high school: Cheney High School; and three Learning Options schools: HomeWorks - a K-8 Parent Partnership Program, WIN Academy, and Three Springs High School.

Job Summary:

Cheney Public Schools is seeking an Information Technology professional experienced in working in a fast-paced environment demanding strong technical skills. A highly qualified, detail-oriented candidate, who is resourceful in completing and documenting projects. A team-oriented worker with a positive work ethic who enjoys the challenge of getting the job done right the first time; utilizing previous skills, knowledge, training and experience to enhance the productivity of the District. This Assistant Director of Technology works under the direction of, and in close partnership with, the Director of Technology and is responsible for duties such as planning, developing, installation, configuration and maintenance of school district hardware, software and any related infrastructure. This includes the creation of all plans for ensuring functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the organization’s priorities and enabling company employees to do their work effectively. This role is responsible for diagnosing and resolving performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability. He or she will also be accountable for planning updates and maintenance of hardware and software resources to mitigate limitations and combat obsolescence. 

 

This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: this position will be one of two administrators for the district. Each position will grow into their own duties and responsibilities while supporting the other.

 

This is a hands-on position with broad responsibilities that range from strategic and long-range planning and implementation of systemwide technology solutions and infrastructure, to occasionally providing general end-user support and training. Experience working in the education field is of significant value as school experience provides an understanding of how technology supports educational outcomes, where technology funding sources can be accessed, and knowledge that a culture of creativity and collaboration is essential to achieving the district’s mission.

Compensation:

Base pay: $98,753-$116,528 depending upon experience. Competitive benefits package per SEBB.
