COMPENSATION:

$134,260-$158,426 depending on comparable experience; supplemental compensation for PhD/EdD;, and annual reimbursement for professional growth; local monthly travel stipend. Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after July, spread over remaining months of contract year (Jul-Jun))

QUALIFICATIONS:
|
Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
Current Washington State Principal Certificate and/or Professional Administrator certificate. Washington State Career & Technical Education Administrator certificate preferred.
Minimum of three years of leadership experience as a secondary school administrator preferred or comparable administrative/supervisory responsibility. Alternative Learning administrator experience preferred.
CTE Leadership experience as a CTE teacher leader and/or CTE department supervisor. Previous CTE director experience preferred.
Minimum of five years of teaching experience - more than five years of teaching experience valued. Teaching experience in an alternative learning environment is valued.
Valid Washington State Drivers License; WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance

Cheney Public Schools is a rapidly growing district serving approximately 5,300 students and encompasses the towns of Cheney and Airway Heights, an expansive rural area, and a developing industrial and residential area on the West Plains. The District covers 380 square miles.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Cheney Public Schools is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated system and school leader to lead our district Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, lead systems of support and intervention to ensure each high school student in Cheney Public Schools completes High School requirements and is set up and connected for post-secondary success, serve as the principal of WIN (Learning Options school).
This leader will oversee the continuous development, implementation, management, and assessment of the District’s Secondary Career & Technical Education program. They will also focus on teacher recruitment and certification, student leadership integration, staff development, curriculum oversight, and fostering business/industry advisory committees to enhance program effectiveness and educational outcomes.

Instructional Leadership
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and the Four Guiding Questions.
- Set clear expectations for successful use of PLC time to strengthen teamwork and improve student outcomes.
- Provide instructional leadership that aligns secondary learning experiences with district priorities.
- Demonstrate experience designing and implementing an alternative learning school improvement plan using a collaborative process; one that establishes achievable goals which are responsive to State and Federal guidelines while placing student interests at the center of decisions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Washington's state standards and performance expectations, including Common Core State Standards and the Teacher Principal Evaluation Program, and the use of assessment to inform and guide instruction in an Alternative Learning Environment.
Career & Technical Education (CTE) Program Development
- Supervise all aspects of the District’s CTE program, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of CTE curriculum and programs.
- Support CTE staff in obtaining and maintaining appropriate certifications and credentials.
- Facilitate business and industry advisory committees to strengthen partnerships and post-secondary opportunities.
- Analyze student data to inform decision-making and improve program effectiveness.
Equitable Access and Student Success
- Ensure instructional programming prepares all students for college and career readiness.
- Design and implement high-impact programs and schedules that support diverse student needs, including those receiving specialized services.
- Maintain a strong presence in secondary programs, being visible and accessible to staff and students.
- Promote a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and respect among students, staff, and families.
Organizational and Administrative Leadership
- Lead and support district-wide committees, community meetings, and grade-level teams focused on secondary success.
- Develop and manage CTE program goals, annual plans, and long-term strategies in collaboration with K-12 leadership.
- Provide training and professional development for certificated and classified staff.
- Work with building principals and counselors to align CTE coursework with graduation and career pathways.
- Oversee budgeting, grants, and fiscal management for CTE programs.
School Climate and Compliance
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, implementing effective student support and discipline practices aligned with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Demonstrate knowledge of Washington State standards, Common Core, and Teacher Principal Evaluation Program.
- Ensure compliance with school law, labor-management practices, and student accommodation procedures.
- Utilize technology tools (Microsoft Outlook, MS Office, Google Suite, Skyward) for instructional and administrative efficiency.
This leader will be instrumental in shaping innovative secondary education programs that prepare students for success beyond high school.

CONTRACT
- 215-day contract; job responsibilities will commence July 1, 2025
