*Assignment outside of ECEAP/Preschool classroom when needed may include: After-School Detention (ASD), Alternative Learning Experience (ALE), Bus Supervision (a.m./p.m.), Categorical Programs (LAP/Title), Community Transitions, General Classroom, IEP Support, In-School Intervention (ISI), Library, Locker Room Supervision, Lunch/Recess Supervision, Office Support, PE, Resource Room

SCHEDULE:

7 hours per day; 8:20 a.m.-3:50 p.m. (start/end times may be adjusted based on student/building need); Monday-Friday; School Year

COMPENSATION:

$17.85-$22.51/hour** depending on comparable experience; Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after start of school year, spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept-Aug))

**An additional $1.00/hour will be added for hygiene-related duties

OTHER COMPENSATION:

For paraeducator positions only:

·         $1.00/hour additional pay for positions assigned student hygiene duties as a regularly-scheduled part of daily duties

 

***Degrees eligible for a salary enhancement as follows, regardless of degree program or position with the district (cannot be stacked in the case of multiple degrees (highest degree stipend will be applied))

·        AA, BA, MA degree, or PhD, adds $0.50/hour, $1.00/hour, $1.50/hour, $2.00/hour, respectively***

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent****; Passing score (461) on state-approved Paraeducator Assessment, OR hold AA degree or higher OR have earned 72 quarter or 48 semester credits with college-level courses (100 level or higher)*****; Current first aid/CPR card (training may be provided by District); WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance

12 college quarter hour credits in Early Childhood Education or Initial or higher Washington state Early Childhood Certificate, or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition.~

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Employees working in early learning/preschool settings are vital to the success of the program and to each child’s development. Young children learn through a combination of intentional play and exploration and language-rich environments. A hands-on approach where adults foster exploration, language, and positive relationships is integral to an early learning environment. Employees in this role must be able to foster learning through language and play, must be able to move quickly to promote safety as well as have mobility that allows floor activities and gross motor activities/movement.

Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP, pronounced E-Cap) is funded by the State of Washington and provides an educational setting for children, as well as family support and involvement. ECEAP primarily serves children and families who meet eligibility requirements based on age and family income. The ECEAP/Preschool Instructional Paraeducator supports observation and assessment of children’s development, supports implementation of curriculum and instruction, and assists in maintaining the learning environment.

EVALUATION

The employee shall be evaluated per the terms of the Public School Employees (PSE) Collective Bargaining Agreement by the building principal, department director, or designee. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above Duties and Responsibilities and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
